Contingency Planning and Transition Tips for Businesses: Creating Stronger Communities for our Future

Whether you are in your first year or a mature business, we invite you to spend an evening with a host of experts discussing how we prepare our businesses, and in turn our community, for the unforeseen and the inevitable. Guest presenters include Galen Lambert from Smith Center, Will Katz from Lawrence, Rick LeJuerrne from Topeka, and Clint Sandmann from Manhattan. Topics to be discussed are:

  • Overview/tips for businesses before you transition, how to value a business, what are some “common” ways businesses transition
  • Tips toward financial success in business while providing for future retirement, tax savings/deferral strategies in business and in transition, and tips ways planning can benefit your business and community.
  • Legal aspects – discussion of the buy/sell agreement, liability issues, intellectual property, no compete clauses, entity structures
